We invest in assets that have long-term performance and risk characteristics. This is aimed at enabling us to deliver investment returns consistent with our investment objectives. The resulting allocation to various classes of assets is known as EPPF’s strategic asset allocation.
How we invest
The EPPF uses its internal in-house Investment Management Unit and external asset managers to invest its assets. This is intended to improve diversification and enhance investment returns.
What do we invest in?
Our investments consist of fixed interest income (bonds), and money market investments, as well as listed equity and property shares and properties, private equity and hedge funds.
Mostly these investments are in domestic markets, however there is reasonable exposure to international and African investments as well in line with the prescripts of applicable legislation. Taking our liability structure into account, investments are selected not only to achieve the matching of those liabilities, but also to achieve optimal returns.
