Dear Member
The President of the Republic of South Africa has declared the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic a national disaster, and the EPPF recognises the importance of limiting the spread of infections.
The EPPF has implemented precautionary measures to protect the health of its members and employees, while ensuring minimal disruption to Fund operations and services. .
The EPPF management team, in consultation with the EPPF Health and Safety Committee, wishes to advise members of the following measures, aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19.
Visits to the EPPF offices
Social distancing has been identified as one of the effective measures in limiting the spread of the virus. We implore members to contact the Fund through telephonic or electronic means, rather than visiting our offices.
Essential consultations that cannot be conducted through telephonic or electronic means will be conducted under strict hygiene practices. For assistance, please contact the Call Centre on 0800 11 45 48 or via email on info@eppf.co.za. For all the contact information for our offices countrywide, click here.
In order to protect both employees and members, we have employed preventative hygiene measures. Sanitisers will be provided for visitors and all external visitors will be required to first sanitise before entering the EPPF premises.
External visitors will be required to complete a questionnaire to establish whether they may have been exposed to the virus. Should it be the case, they will not be permitted to enter the EPPF buildings.
Mass meetings and travel
Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19. We have therefore taken the decision to suspend all pensioner functions and mass member meetings until further notice.
As a further precautionary measure, the EPPF has banned international business travel for its staff and functionaries. Domestic travel will only be undertaken if deemed essential.
How to keep safe during the outbreak
According to the World Health Organisation, the signs and symptoms identified as possible indications of infection with COVID-19 include fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath, muscle aches and diarrhoea.
The following practical measures can minimise the risk of infection:
Exposure to infected person(s)
