EPPF Inspires the Next Generation of Female Leaders

On 13 October 2026, EPPF participated in the CFA Society South Africa Day of the Girl initiative, welcoming five Grade 11 learners from Mosupatsela Secondary School in Kagiso for a job-shadowing experience designed to broaden their career aspirations and introduce them to opportunities within the financial services industry.

Held under the theme “Beyond the Classroom: Her Future, Her Possibilities,” the initiative aimed to inspire young girls to explore different career paths, gain practical insights into the professional environment and recognise the possibilities that lie ahead as they prepare for life beyond school.

The annual CFA Society South Africa Day of the Girl initiative seeks to encourage greater participation of young women in the financial services industry by connecting learners with professionals who can share their experiences, provide guidance and offer first-hand exposure to the world of work.

This year, EPPF welcomed Keketso Zikithane, Tharollo Moloi, Mathapelo Masisi, Gafaone Maswagi and Seitebale Maseloa, accompanied by their educator, Katlego Moagi.

During their visit, the learners had the opportunity to shadow EPPF professionals across investment management, pension administration and finance, gaining insight into the diverse skills and expertise required to support the Fund's operations.

The job-shadowing experience included interactions with Kgabang Moloedi, CFA, Assistant Portfolio Manager; Sekgabo Molelekoa, Portfolio Manager; Priscilla Raphasha and Tshepo Radebe, Private Markets Analysts. The learners also engaged with Tumelo Ramotebele and Anele Msimanga, Investment Administration Graduates, gaining exposure to the investment processes and career opportunities within the Fund's Investment Management Unit.

Their experience extended to the Fund's finance functions, where they interacted with Ntanganedzeni Ndou, Fund Accountant, Sinethemba Makhanya from Accounts Payable and Sebenzile Sibiya from Tax. They also spent time with Boipelo Mathe, Performance Analyst, and Sophy Mokgoko, Senior Investment Administrator, gaining a broader appreciation of the financial management, reporting and administrative responsibilities that contribute to the Fund's operations.

To provide further insight into the member-facing side of the organisation, the learners engaged with Aluwani Yawa, Claims Processing Manager, and Thuso Mofokeng, Call Centre Manager. These interactions offered an understanding of the role pension administration and member services play in supporting members throughout their retirement journeys.

Beyond introducing the learners to different professions, the experience highlighted the value of mentorship and representation in shaping career aspirations. Engaging directly with professionals provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with practical workplace experiences, while encouraging the learners to consider career paths they may not previously have explored.

For EPPF, the initiative reflects the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for young people to discover their potential and make informed decisions about their futures. By opening its doors and sharing the knowledge and experiences of its employees, the Fund hopes to inspire greater interest in careers within investment management, finance and the broader retirement industry.

EPPF's continued participation in the CFA Society South Africa Day of the Girl initiative reinforces its commitment to supporting education, skills development and the advancement of young women. It also demonstrates the value of collaboration in creating opportunities that can have a lasting influence on the aspirations of future generations.

As EPPF continues its journey of Caring Beyond Tomorrow, initiatives such as Day of the Girl serve as a reminder that investing in the future extends beyond financial security to empowering the next generation with the confidence, knowledge and inspiration to pursue their ambitions.
