As part of its commitment to truly caring beyond tomorrow, EPPF, as South Africa’s second largest pension fund, is carrying out an industry-leading exercise to ensure that membership is made regular for everyone belonging to the Fund. An assurance exercise is currently underway to legitimise the payment of benefits for those members whose employment records cannot be traced.
The exercise has already led to the verification of thousands of members. Now, the Fund is reaching out to those members whose records span decades ago. EPPF and participating employers to the Fund are not legally obligated to keep employment records for more than a decade. The Fund is therefore reaching out to affected members so that a court process, through a declarator order, can legitimise the continued payment of benefits.
