EPPF’s Shyless Shai Featured in Executive Leadership Magazine

EPPF is proud to share that Shyless Shai, Human Capital Executive, has been featured in the Executive Leadership Magazine.

In her article, Shyless reflects on the realities of leading in an environment defined by constant change, uncertainty and disruption. She notes that leadership today often requires decisiveness in the absence of perfect information, stating that “hesitation is costly” and that leaders who thrive are those “with the courage to act in the fog, to be decisive even without perfect information, and to inspire confidence even when uncertainty clouds the horizon”.

A central theme of the feature is the balance between courage and grace. While bold decision-making remains essential in fast-moving and complex environments, Shyless cautions against leadership that moves without care for people. “Courage in the absence of kindness can become autocracy,” she writes, adding that leadership today must be deeply human, treating people with dignity and creating environments where they feel they belong and are able to give their best.

The article also highlights well-being as a critical driver of sustainable performance. Shyless warns that moving at speed without boundaries can lead to burnout, noting that “well-being is not a luxury to be acknowledged only when convenient; it is central to sustained performance”. Leaders, she argues, have a responsibility to set an ambitious yet humane pace that protects long-term capacity.

Reflecting on the future of leadership, she underscores the importance of purpose, clarity and authenticity, particularly in engaging younger generations entering the world of work. Shyless observes that leaders who provide meaning, even when certainty is unavailable, are better positioned to build trust and commitment. “Boldness moves organisations forward, but grace keeps people with you on the journey,” she writes.

In addition to this feature, Shyless recently shared further insights on leadership and purpose on EPPF's Caring Beyond Tomorrow Podcast, offering listeners another perspective on the themes explored in the article. Listen below.

This feature reinforces EPPF’s commitment to people-centred leadership and to building workplace cultures grounded in wellbeing, inclusion and purpose.
